On February 6 2005, the RYA and the Yachting Journalists’ Association hosted a seminar attended by 50 delegates from circuit, offshore, Honda and Zap Cat racing, to address the challenge of raising the profile of powerboat racing.

There is a direct correlation between media coverage and sponsorship. The more coverage a team can gain both in the regional and national press, TV and radio, the more financial support they will attract.

The seminar, headed by a panel of top names from TV, radio and the print media as well as a promoter, gave a fresh perspective on how to make the headlines, and offered advice on how to first win sponsorship – then keep it!

The following pages include the core messages from each of the speakers' presentations.
