WHYTE & MACKAY/YJA MEDIA AWARDS 2007

 

The inaugural Whyte & Mackay/YJA Media Awards were presented at the Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show on the Press Day – 30th November. There were six categories with many entries and they were assessed by a panel of independent judges who specialise in the content of the particular categories. The successful members of the Yachting Journalists’ Association in the categories are listed together with the judges:

a. Reportage in any printed medium (including web reports) of a boating event, sail or power - Judged by Dennis Skillicorn

Winner: “Disabled Sailing” by Barry Pickthall.

b. Broadcast of any boating event or an event of a similar nature; radio, television or podcast - Judged by BBC South's Roger Johnson

Winner: “The Race Against Time” an APP production by Andrew Preece

c. Photographic study – single or multiple images - judged by Ewen Southby Tailyour

Winner: “Sailing Journal” by Nic Compton

d. Graphic study – illustrations, cartoons or layout - judged by Ewen Southby Tailyour

Winner: “Ever Wonder Why We Do It” by Mike Peyton

e. Book - judged by Clare Francis

Winner: “An Absorbing Interest” by Bob Fisher

f. Trade and industry report, boat/gear test or similar - judged by Dennis Skillicorn

Winner: “12m Kate” by Patrick Roach
